The Town of Hendaye

The Town of Hendaye

The town of Hendaye sits as far  south on the west coast of France as you can go.  The River Bidassoa (the gap in the beach at the top of the picture) to the south of Hendaye forms the border with Spain.

The beautiful beach you can see in the picture is 3 km long.  The marina (to the top left of the beach) is the second biggest marina on the French Atlantic coast.  The north end of the beach (nearest the foot of the picture) has the Deux Jumeaux - the twins -  two rocks which mark the end of the beach.

All the year round you will see lots of surfers in the water enjoying the excellent surfing conditions for which the area is famous.

See also http://hendaye.over-blog.net/ for lots of photographs and videos (text in French).  You may need to download some programmes to allow videos to run - "DivX" for example.  To run the videos on the right side of the screen, click on the "Google Video" button first and then the "Play" button.
