The Town of Peebles

Peebles is situated on the banks of the River Tweed and is surrounded by the rolling hills of the Southern Uplands.
There are many historical buildings in and around Peebles. King David II, in 1367, granted Royal Burgh status to Peebles which developed from a small cluster of houses around Neidpath Castle to an important market town.
Today, Peebles is a popular tourist destination with many visitors enjoying its beautiful location, fishing on the River Tweed, golfing at Peebles Golf Club, mountain biking at Glentress or shopping in its attractive High Street.
