A walk through Peebles

A walk through Peebles

The Royal Burgh of Peebles was established by King David of Scotland in the 12th century as a trading centre for the surrounding country.   Its motto is 'Contra Nanda Incrementum' which means to flourish by going against the flow.  Today the town  spreads out from its broad High Street to the surrounding narrow lanes and streets that are rich in buildings of historic interest.  A Town Trail leads the visitor through the streets to explore 800 years of  history.
